Pass 'Em Thru!
-------------
SHAREWARE $10.00
Please support the shareware products so more can be produced.
It's not a type of software but a method of distribution.
This is a Tabby event utility.
I am the NEC of our net. I have to pass on LOTS of echos to other nodes
in our net. This means that there are many echos that I have to import
to my BBS software due to the lack of 'pass-thru' support in the current
version of Tabby. It takes up importing time, a chunk of disk space, and
the 'effort' it takes to set up and maintain these areas on the BBS.
If any of this sounds familiar to you, you need Pass 'Em Thru!
All it requires you to do is: Tell it where your Tabby and Generic folders
are located, enter the number for each of the echos you want 'passed thru'
into a text file, and insert the program name into your Tabby events any
place you are running Deliver Mail.
I think that pass thru will be included in the upcoming version of Tabby.
If not, this utility should still work with Tabby 3.0 even with the message
format changes, if not, there's always 'Pass 'Em Thru II'.
This program will let you receive echos for other that you want to send
on to other BBSs or Points without having to import these echo messages
into your BBS.
A Log of Pass 'Em Thru activities will be maintained in the TABBY LOG.
Pass 'Em Thru has a max. limit of 199 pass-thru echos.
How to set Pass 'em Thru up.
--------------------------
Place the Pass 'Em Thru program in the folder that contains the TabbyNet,
other Tabby applications, and your BBS program.
Create a text file, located in your TABBY folder, named PTHRUNUMBERS.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
In this file you need to enter the area numbers of the echos that you want
to have passed thru (not imported into your BBS). The entry must be in
the exact following format. (see example file included)
Enter 1 area number per line and press RETURN after the number.
There MUST NOT be any empty lines.
After you enter the last pass thru area number and press return,
save the file.
(The cursor in the text editor will be sitting on the blank line following
the last pass thru area number at position 0)
You now must tell Pass 'Em Thru where your Tabby folder and the
Generic folder (tabbymail or what ever you have named it. It's the
folder that contains the generic import and generic export files)
are located.
Open Pass 'Em Thru with ResEdit.
Double-Click on the STR resource icon.
Double-Click on STRING ID# 3000.
This contains the partial pathway to your Generic Folder.
It must contain a colon (:) preceding the folder name.
Examples = :GENERIC
or :Tabbymail
Use whatever name you are using for this folder.
After you have entered this information, close that window.
Double-Click on the STRING ID #4000.
This contains the partial pathway to your TABBY folder.
It must contain a colon (:) preceding the folder name.
Example = :TABBY
After you have entered this information, close that window.
Quit ResEdit and choose to SAVE when you are presented the dialog box.
Insert Pass 'Em Thru *all* event chains after TabbyNet Deliver Mail.
(It doesn't have to immediatly follow DeliverMail but it must be placed after
DeliverMail and before the name of your BBS program.)
Change TabbyNet events with Tabby Maint and use ResEdit to modify
TabbyNet (STR 305) and Tabby Robot (STR# 301).
(TabbyNet will choke if your event lists get too long, so you might want
to abbreviate Pass 'Em Thru to PET -- remember to change the application name
if you do!)
That is all. Engage!
